At WCCO a Legend is born, as a legend retires. Shelby/Mischke

WCCO in GoogleEarth.

WCCO, the greatest Minneapolis radio and television broadcasting station, is experiencing big changes. Just as T.D Mischke reclaims a 50,000 watt microphone, the legendary newscaster Don Shelby has announced he is to retire at the end of this year.

WCCO TV has perhaps one of the richest histories of any broadcasting station in America. You can read more here.

Don Shelby has been broadcasting there since 1978. Longer then I have been alive!

Mischke, on the other hand, is a ledgend in his own right. Having broadcast on KSTP radio (which has committed suicide by switching to a all sports format)for 17 years, he was unjustly fired for making a joke about McDonalds at the end of 2008. Tommy Mischke triumphantly returns to the radio for WCCOs 10 to midnight slot.
