Occupy MN Takes Over Government Plaza (Live Video Streaming)

UPDATE 8:30pm.  By sundown, it was reported 1800 people had signed the attendance rolls at the welcome booth.

An estimated 3 to 500 people, Mayor R.T. Rybak and former governor Jesse Ventura showed up at Government Plaza near City Hall this morning for the Occupy MN rally. Standing in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement, producing the end to economic inequality and corporate greed globally. The rally attracted all people, young and old.

The Minneapolis Police Department and Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department said they expected the rally to remain peaceful. At their loudest, the crowd could be heard as far away as Nicollet Mall. A festive mood prevailed at the Hennepin County Government Center plaza on a warm fall Friday. Occupy MN plans to stay at “the People’s Plaza” for the foreseeable future, and are well-stocked with food and water to do so. The public’s sentiment appears to be on their side. The rally attracted sympathetic honks from drivers as they passed and encouragement from pedestrians. “I hope they do well out here,” one police officer said “I hope their message is heard.”
